The story of the Picarvie Museum begins with an unexpected encounter between Paul Longuein and an old tool.
A native of Saigneville, this Picard man discovered a stone-breaking hammer—once used by road maintenance workers—and was intrigued by the object and the craftsmanship it represented. He began to take an interest in traditional tools and the trades that were gradually disappearing due to mechanization.
His curiosity led him to meet Picard artisans.
They entrusted him with their tools, told him about their trades, and shared their memories.
Over time, an exceptional collection took shape, eventually amassing more than 6,000 objects.
